This is what I will deem to be an inexpensive feather flag pole. There are fancier poles that taper, or are made of fiberglass or carbon fiber or whatever space-age material they're making stuff out of, but these aluminum poles work just fine for an 8-11ft flag. The eight footers just get a little lift up off the ground, which is probably a good thing.If you have a larger rod pocket then you might need to run a line from the flag retaining loop to the bottom of the pole to make sure it doesn't blow off, but that's probably only in very windy conditions.The base hammers into the soil easily and spins freely without any special mechanisms. This is good because you don't want it fighting the wind, you want it turning with the wind so it doesn't break. Try to keep it straight as you go in, any amount of off centeredness will be exaggerated toward the top of the flag.The curve at the top is perfect. Not too much, not too little. I worry with the skinny poles that they will lose their shape after time or too much wind and kind of droop. This one is firm.

This swooper pole kit works great. It is a bit different if you are accustomed to using kits that have flexible graphite extensions for the top insert. The rigid top pole works just fine, as long as you make sure to insert the closed end of the top pole first! Compact, short sections, easy assembly, easy breakdown. I like it!

Love how it holds up with the wind and easy setup. About to purchase another one!!
